It was further suggested to the Committee that

a rough trace of the road with no steeper gradient than 1 in

20 should be opened in the first instance to prove if the proposed road is practicable.

This suggestion has been adopted by the Com- mittee and steps have been taken to give effect to it.

The results of the experiment will be reported to you in due course.
